The understory

I’m Anna, a coastal girl, never far from water, a genetic predisposition as an island native. I grew up in Dublin soil, a stone's throw from the salty brine and have found a new mooring for now, currently living between the escarpment and the sea on D’harawal country, North of Wollongong in New South Wales.

As a child I was wild about nature, if I wasn’t in the garden with muddy hands, or knee deep in rockpools I was glued to David Attenborough on the BBC. My fondest childhood memories were of time spent in my parents garden, picking radishes and runner beans, sitting under our huge flowering Cherry tree or the sound and colour of the Laburnum tree alive with bees.

I trained as a nature therapy guide during the pandemic. Like many, the time for reflection, solitude and time in nature allowed me to rekindle my passion for both nature and creativity. I have felt the profound benefits of simple nature centric practices for myself and others and the capacity for instilling calmness, enhancing clarity, and deepening our sense of connection.

THE OVERSTORY

My mission for Terra Soma is to help people find a way back to nature not only for the enormous benefits to individual health and wellbeing, but for the collective wellbeing of our communities and for the wellbeing of the planet. You can read about the benefits of nature connection here
